Commissions

Thank you for visiting my commissions page! It would be my pleasure to capture your pet artistically. Read on to find out how...

Traditional Commissions

I work in pastel pencil, acrylic paint or oil paint. Each medium brings its own aesthetic qualities the artwork. Please visit my gallery or my social media profiles to see examples of each artwork style.

All materials used in the making of your commission are of an industry-leading standard, acid-free and guaranteed to last a lifetime under the proper care, without bleaching or yellowing.

Digital Commissions

This type of artwork is hand drawn using a digital pen on a tablet. No additional photo enhancing software is used to create this type of portrait.

This is a great option for those who want a quality drawing at a more affordable price.

All digital portraits are inkjet printed onto bamboo fine art paper using archival pigment based inks that deliver pure, rich colour and remarkable detail that guarantee your print will keep its quality and vibrancy for 100 years or more.

If you would like your portrait printed onto a phone case, notebook, cushion or anything else, please let me know. I have done this for some clients in the past.

Commission Guide

I have put together a simple 4-step guide to walk you through the entire commission process. Scroll down to read the FAQs or get in touch if you have any further questions.

Step 1 - Pick a style & size

Decide which style of commission you would like (pastel pencil, oil painting, acrylic painting or digital).

Then take a look at my price list to see various sizes that I offer for each style of portrait.

I am able to provide a custom size if what you're looking for is not already listed.

Step 2 - Take a photo

The better the photo, the more detailed the drawing. The ideal photo for pet portraits are clear, non-blurry, well lit and shows both eyes in detail.

If you are unsure which photo to use I am more than happy to receive a selection of photos to help you choose the best option.

I understand that sometimes it's just not possible to take a new photo of a beloved pet or to get that perfect shot, in these cases, I will see if it’s possible to work from multiple photos to create a portrait as close to their likeness as possible. Please keep in mind that these portraits are more challenging and may be slightly less detailed.

Step 3 - Book your portrait

To book your commission, send a message via the commission form below or email me directly at sheetal@artbytoor.com.

If you have a deadline in mind for your commission or if it is intended as a gift, please let me know so I can ensure it is completed within the timeframe. For gifts I will refrain on posting on my social channels until gifted.

As a rough guide; digital portraits can be completed within a couple of days, whilst pencil drawings and paintings can take up to 1-2 weeks.

If you have a deadline in mind for your portrait, please let me know as soon
as possible. I will always try to accommodate you.

Most people request plain backgrounds for their portraits.

However, if you would like to add some colour or foliage in the background, I would be more than happy to do this for you.

If your pet has white or cream coloured fur, then I always advise to have a complimentary colour in the background to ensure you can see the detail.

Yes! My price list pages give a more detailed breakdown of which sizes make this possible – larger sizes tend to be best for more pets.

If you don’t have photos of the pets together I am able to use Adobe Photoshop to mock up a few ‘group shots’ from separate photos prior to beginning the drawing.

No, I have also been commissioned to draw portraits of people and I have been hired to paint wall murals. If you have something specific in mind please get in touch!

I specialise in wildlife and animal art, so if you would like to commission an animal that isn't your pet, please get in touch and we can talk through some options.

I only use professional artist materials of the highest quality to ensure that my portraits will last a lifetime without the paper degrading or the colours fading.

I use Faber-Castell for pastel pencil portraits and a mix of Windsor and Newton for paintings.

I use my digital pen and table for digital portraits.

The best images are clear, non-blurry with the eyes clearly showing.

However, I know this isn’t always achievable, especially if you have a playful and energetic pet! So if you’re not sure which image is best, please send through as many pictures as you can and I will help you select the best option.

I have created a photo guide to help you through the process.

All portraits are sent via a tracked courier service. Delivery is free for all UK mainland orders.

International orders will incur an additional charge which will be calculated based on the location.

I accept payment by either bank transfer or via a fully secured payment link via SumUp.

I ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit of the cimmission cost to secure the booking.
